Examples and Solutions for Potentially Misleading Representations, COVID
Since the general public uses this site as a primary resource to keep up with the pandemic, there should be a strong obligation towards clarity and towards removing bias. Right now, while I have no reason to believe any data is inaccurate, it is easy for someone who isn't used to reading data, doesn't read disclaimers, or who has biases they are trying to confirm, to mistakenly use correct data to draw false conclusions. I'll point out each issue, and then suggest a few ways it could be fixed
Issue 1: Misleading shape and incomplete information posted as if it…3 votes -

Publish previous year dashboard i.e. T/Y vs L/Y
That way we can compare all categories since covid is currently lumped in this years numbers and one is not able determine relativity of covid to other illnesses.

LEAF BLOWERS?! Really?!!
Why are you allowing leaf blowers to continue their useless dust scattering and horrendously noisy operations? Isn't a leaf blower just a GREAT way to spread COVID 19..they've done wonders for spreading Emphysema I know that.the brilliance here is overwhelming.

Please update the now false "Returning Stronger" infographic that is on coronavirus home page.
The inforgraphic "Returning Stronger: Arizona in Phase 1 Infographic" on the covid homepage is second bullet, right at the top.
It is completely false, but just needs an update. It says that Arizona is ready for phase 1 opening up and presents the data showing that is the case. The data on current cases and direction is not representative of the current situation. The infographic should say Arizona is NOT ready for phase 1, and should show the current data showing full exponential growth of the disease. As it stands it is delivering the completely wrong message.3 votes -

Sell me Nice Masks
Please get AZ logos on s, some decent quality mask, and SELL them at a reasonable PROFIT to those who can afford them. Maybe have two kinds: "good" and "deluxe". They would be a walking PSA and would show that the wearer supports the way forward.
P.S. My 62-year-old self has been giving 25% tips and ordering delivery a lot more. Same idea.
P.P.S. You could similarly bottle up some local hand sanitizer, and sell it for a small profit.

When lab test sources are delayed, delay your reporting or update during the day.
This refers to the COVID 19 dashboard. Showing only partial results is misleading. Either wait or for the lab to submit data OR update the results more than once in a day.

What occured on 7/30/20?
Does anyone know what happened on 7/30? There is a huge spike in cases from that specimen date. And given the tests reported as being performed on that date, the infection rate is >40% for that day. I can't find any reference to any new testing initiative or anything else happening on that day.
Hope the data for 7/30 reported so far is correct, because it is making the week of 8/2 look up week over week.
Also, anyone ever been able to talk to a data analyst from AZDHS? Been doing this kind of work for 30 years and…

Stop showing total number of cases since statistics started being taken.
What good does showing cases come and gone? How many people have been positive in the last 14 days is much more relevant information to have on the summary page. It's not a badge of honor to see how many cases we have had. Show how many we have now. Stop the hyping.

Covid-19 benchmarks for school dashboard
The dashboard for school and business reopening is weeks out of date and is not reflective of the covid-19 dashboard. For all we know Maricopa county could be reopened right now. If you create benchmarks this critical then be current. I understand that a week or two lag can exist but its currently 3 weeks out of date and the other dash board is more current. Release us already.

Scale Covid-19 data based on the total Arizona population
The Covid-19 charts are scaled, I imagine, for ease of reading but visually demonstrates a fallacy in the data. It makes it appear as if the red spike is HUGE. Present that data on a chart which includes the total Arizona population so we can have a real look at the impact. FYI the red spike is almost invisible when scaled appropriately.

I cannot schedule an appointment
I click pre-register, and it prompts me to log in. I log in, and it says to click appointments on the menu to create an appointment - but there is no "appointments" in the menu. How do I actually schedule an appointment?!?

YCCHS vs ADHS Positivity Rates
I am contacting ADHS because I am seeing is a significant discrepancy between the COVID-19 data reported by YCCHS versus by ADHS. Specifically, YCCHS's total positivity rate is based on all diagnostic testing whereas ADHS's total positivity rate is calculated only from the electronically-reported tests. The calculations below show that the tests not electronically reported do have a sizable impact on the positivity rate.
YCCHS Tests Reported = 44380
YCCHS Positive Tests = 2628
YCCHS’s Positivity Rate = 2628 / 44380 = 5.9%ADHS "Tests Reported Electronically" = 37691
ADHS Positive "Tests Reported Electronically" = 1789
ADHS’s Positivity Rate = 1789 / 37691 = 4.8%Number of…

Alternative COVID treatments
Is there a team looking into alternative treatment options? Or are we just waiting for the FDA and NIH to come up with a solution? How are we going to treat individuals who don’t have the vaccine yet, or it was ineffective? I’ve seen good data on Ivermectin. https://ivmmeta.com/ I’m not a medical expert, but the data presented looks like it would be worth pursuing.
