  1. providing a online license verification system

Other state boards offer an option to search for a provider's license online through a search engine located on their website. It is very convenient and enables employers and the public to search for a provider with just knowing the person's name and/or license number. The online list you have is very difficult and time consuming to navigate through.

The best place to look is on AZCARECHECK.COM. There is a searchable form to look up licensees by name. It also gives you a way to see if they have had any problems with the license. Let us know if you have more questions.

Can you please be more specific about which license verification you are referencing?

The individual provider and the Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) for the area where the person was diagnosed would have that infomration on file. You could contact the appropriate RBHA for the area and ask to speak to the customer service person. We have a list of all RBHAs as well as a map to help you determine which is best on our website at: http://azdhs.gov/bhs/Service-Locator.htm

  4. Dispendsaries will have to grow OVER 99 plants AZDHS....

If the "25 Mile Rule" is NOT repealed the dispensaries will have to grow over 99 plants to maintain a supply of medicine to patients.

Is this NOT way over the 99 plant limit that will send you to Federal Prison for 5 years!!!

    AZDHS
Did you ever think of this? Is this where the cultivation sites play a roll to prevent 99 plants from being cultivated in 1 place?

The 25-mile rule was part of the act passed by voters. It would require a change by lawmakers or the voters. ADHS does not have the authority to change it.

  5. Don't force fixed income patients to go to dispensaries

The 25 mile rule is unconstitutional!

Article 2 section 13 of the Arizona State Constitution:
No law shall be enacted granting to any citizen, class of citizens, or corporation other than municipal, privileges or immunities which, upon the same terms, shall not equally belong to all citizens or corporations.

  7. Put the 1990s anti-tobacco ads online!

I grew up in Arizona and am now teaching a media literacy class in another state. As I approach the topic of tobacco advertising I remembered thhe Arizona Department of Health Services' awesome "Tumor causing teeth staining smelly puking habit" anti-smoking ads of the 1990s. While ADHS has some great contemporary anti-smoking ads and even features segments of the 1990s ads in some of their spots on their YouTube channel, it would be a wonderful service to make the ads available in their entirety.

Just heard back from the Bureau of Tobacco and Chronic Disease – you are exactly correct about the title and we are going to work to put it on our YouTube channel. Thanks for the suggestion and best of luck to you in your endeavors.

  8. Health care costs

I've checked MIHS billing for Facility costs (that's just for walking into the McDowell clinic and not the actual doctors fees), and I find the fees are outragious. It's no wonder state health care costs are so much.

It is handled by the patient – see the process below:
If you are an existing qualifying patient, you can add a caregiver only if you did not previously have a caregiver apply online officially as your designated caregiver.
If you had a caregiver and want to replace them, you would “replace caregiver”. To add or replace your current designated caregiver, go to the change application on the ADHS medical marijuana website at: https://medicalmarijuana.azdhs.gov/ChangeApplicationSearch.aspx

In order to make the change, you must enter in your card number and first and last name exactly as it appears on your card. It is important to note that ONLY the qualifying patient can make this change. The designated caregiver always follows the lead and wishes of the associated patient.

Once you have successfully added or replaced the caregiver, you should let the newly designated caregiver know he must still come back onto the …

  10. So where is the Medical Marijuana link at your website? I came to the site today to check it out and it's gone. Why is this so hard to fin

Get your act together and start respecting MMJ in this state. The renewal fees for patients should be $35.00 not $150 since anything higher you are robbing the citizens since you provide nothing. I signed up for info to be mailed to me on clinical trials and you are an epic FAIL on this in violation of the AMMA.

ResponseWe have moved Medical Marijuana off the home page of our website to allow room for our other programs. You can always enter marijuana in the search box or look for it in the most popular links on the left hand side of the home page. The fees for renewal are based on our costs to create the cards, just as the original cards. We have said many times, that if it looks like the cost is less, we will reduce our fees. As far as information about the clinical trials, we send it out quarterly by email. You can make sure your email is correct by emailing m2programsupport@azdhs.gov or you can access the list of clinical trials on our website at http://azdhs.gov/medicalmarijuana/patients/clinicaltrials.htm.

  11. Don't ever allow Dispensaries to open. Heres why.

Don't ever allow Dispensaries to open. It will drive the price of our meds WAY up and make some unscrupulous people very rich. Meanwhile making meds lower quality and out of reach for genuinely ill patients. Not just the pain patients!

The Caregiver program is the best method. There can be unlimited Caregivers which will create a decrease in pricing. The only thing that you guys should change is the amount of patients each Caregiver could have. Make it 20-50. This way, no Dispensaries ever need to open, the cities are happy, patients get cheaper meds and the public never…

Hello, this is not a decision that ADHS can make. The courts are hearing cases at this time about the law that was passed by the voters. The dispensary model was part of the law.

  12. since you don't allow dispensaries atleast allow a list of caregivers

I am just finding ways to simply system and allow better resources for those who need services etc.

If the Customer Feedback button was covering the left navigation of azdhs.gov, we assume that you have your screen resolution set in the neighborhood of 600 × 800 pixels. Only 3% of our users are in that range. However, we did receive a few complaints, so we’ve moved the button to the right side, away from the navigation. If you continue to experience an issue, you may want to increase your screen resolution to a more common setting such as 1024 × 768 or greater. We see that you did use the button, gave us feedback and we thank you!

  15. the qualified patient registration

azdhs would better serve its customer base by excepting both online and mail-in application. for the price we pay it's the least you can do. the process if far more complicated than it needs to be. many of the mistakes made should be rectified immediately. paper work is messy but less mistakes are made doing things the old fashion way.

  16. Special exemption certificates that allow a patient to continue to cultivate.

Cost and distance make the 25 mile radius an undo burden on the poor, disabled and elderly. Special exemptions from the rule that would allow a patient to continue to cultivate regardless of a dispensary with-in 25 miles based on need due to low-income or high medical bills would allivate the problems placed on many of them and not conflict with the present program.

The 25-mile radius applies to dispensaries. At this time, there are no licensed dispensaries in the state – so anyone who asks to cultivate is allowed. A change in the law would either require another voter initiative or action by the legislature.

  17. REPEAL THE 25 MILE RULE

The "25 mile" rule was said to be implemented to deter medical marijuana related crimes. It has the apparently unintentional effect of creating a state monitored medical marijuana monopoly. The "25 mile" rule will also keep the prices of medical marijuana artificially high. If prop 203 is about compassion for the sick then this law cannot have a restriction on patient cultivating rights.

The issue you bring up was part of the initiative pssed by voters. To change any part of that would require a vote by the public; the Department cannot change the 25-mile rule.
As Mr. Wilber dos not point out, this was an intitiative. After proposition 105 passed in 1998, decidions made by voters in initiatives are harder to change. Proposition 105 prohibits the legislature from ever repealing approved ballot measures, and requires a very large vote - 3/4 majority- to enact any amendments to an intiative. In addition, any amendments must “further the purposes” of the approved initiative; they cannot change its intent.

ADHS has many programs and can only feature a few at a time. The Tobacco Cessation program is important to us and hasn’t been highlighted lately. We will consider moving it up for awhile. 19. Clarify how you can "provide an uninterrupted supply of meds".

How can I maintain an "uninterrupted supply of medication," when I can only possess 2.5 onces at a time. It takes 6-8 months for a plant to mature and you would have to have a plant mature every 2 weeks to maintain this. What am supposed to do with the excess, as a plant will produce far more then that at one time. Can I drop off the extra with you or at the police station and pick up my 2.5 ounces bi-weekly? I am trying to abide by the law, but unable to figure out how to do this…

This is a question where you might want to get legal advice. The parameters were set in what th voters passed into law.
