"A Possible Solution To Arizona's Extreme Heat"
As you obviously know, it is unbearably hot in Arizona -- and many other places -- for five to six months every year. But I’ve noticed that the overnight temperatures are very comfortable during that period. I began to wonder if there was a way for Arizonans to take advantage of this.
I also began to have this recurring vision of "Lighting Up The Night" with solar power. To the point where it was just as bright as daytime - similar to, though not necessarily the same, as a Diamondbacks game at Chase Field. To the point where people could work, take walks, play tennis, golf, softball et al — all outside if they wanted. If this could be done in Arizona, for example, the people here could begin to sleep from noon to 8:00 PM, work and/or play outside (or inside) from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM and have the option of staying in their air conditioned homes from 8:00 AM to noon. They would enjoy very moderate temperatures during the time they are outside, crime would be reduced and commuting logjams would be eliminated.
I think this will certainly happen by the end of this century. But why can’t it happen much sooner? A prototype version could be done in a new or established housing development, or in an isolated neighborhood or city block.
