For national data: search 'excessive deaths' on CDC website. Nice graphs at bottom. Puts things into perspective. Yes, a lot of people died in past 6 months, much worse than 2017-18 flu season. What I find interesting is year after that bad flu season - the actual total is well below the expected total. Makes you wonder how many fewer people will die in the years to come after this. The universe balances itself out.
