If masks are mandated starting now, when a vaccine becomes available, with contract tracing, it could be wiped out.

Please stop drinking the Kool-Aid. No vaccine for SERS or MERS and they wiped themselves out. Masks do very little except in very close contact - otherwise they can do more harm than good (both physically and mentally).
