Medicare coverage?
Arizonas constituents have voted and recognize Medical Marijuana as a viable and preferred medication towards establishing a healthier and more manageable choice of pain management tools.
I am a 50yr old male paraplegia residing in Yuma,AZ. I have filed and been accepted into the medical marijuana program as of Feb,3 2011. I have my card and I would like to ask for more information concerning the appropriate channels or the proper process to file the required documents to request A.H.C.C.C. and HealthChoice of Arizona and its subsidiaries to recognize Medical Marijuana as a legal and eligible choice of medication and warrants prescription coverage.
I currently receive a disability check of $700 monthly and I had to save for 5 months in order to have adequate monies to afford the certification and the medical card. Now my yearly fees are due again and I have been saving another 5 months to pay those fees. At this rate I could not afford to pay for my medication if there were a dispensary open, or the finances of cultivating.
I have written to,"Thomas J Betlach, Director of AHCCCS" and to "Clarence H Carter, Director for Department of Economic Security" and was encouraged to discuss the matter with my Congressional representative to change federal rgulations.
I would request to submit a proposal or help initiate a directive that requires proper procedure to insure that all eligible recepients enrolled in the state run AHCCCS program through the Department of Economic Security, are allowed the same rights and previleges of prescription drug coverage on Medical Marijuana as they have had towards their present prescription drug coverage.
I would deeply appreciate your thoughts or any assistance you could provide, Thank you and God Bless
Our Department, Health Services, does not have any control over what other state offices decide to do. And in this case, it is federal money that provides the insurance, so the recommendations from the Departments you contacted (DES and AHCCCS) seem to be appropriate.
