Compliance with patient requests for care
During an emergency hospital admission to Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak one of the first things I told the admitting RN was that I didn't want to be seen by any members of a speficic physician group. The following day I was over medicated for my condition but believed that one of the group physicians had been in my room. The nurse caring for me told me that I had mistaken him for the physician in question and that the physician had not been in my room. However, when I visited my PCP she had the report of the consult performed by the surgeon in question in the hospital and in fact the office billed me. As a registered nurse myself, I take my own health care very seriously and know that I have the right to determine who provideds me with care. Since I was hospitalized for a bowel block, I believe that the surgeon examined me, including touching my abdomen..I believe that the hospital did not protect me or follow my wishes and further believe that I was not safe during this short hospitalization.
We appreciate hearing from you and will look into whether the hospital violated any state or federal rules or laws.
